[attr="class","opmindblurb"]
[attr="class","opmindblurb1"]For many years had the realm of Earth Land been ruled by the Gods: those who ruled over the land as mortals cherished them and offered them tribute.[break][break]
The mortals— the Humans— praised the Gods and regarded them as divinity, not only for their beauty and might but for the arcane power they wielded: magic, an art not every living being could use for they lacked Ethernano; the very essence of magic. This made them rulers over humanity, though there were those among humanity who resented the Gods for their sole domain over the powers of magic.[break][break]
However, sedition had been brewing beneath the surface, in the underworld. During the reign of the Gods, many creatures often considered a myth or a legend were, in reality, hiding from the Gods. Those creatures feared the Gods. Yet at the same time, those creatures were feared by the Gods, for they were the only other beings who held any trace of Ethernano within their bodies.[break][break]
These creatures ranged from lowly monsters to full-fledged Demons, and all of them could wield magical power in the same fashion as the Gods worshipped by humanity. Yet they truly struggled to end the reign of the Gods, for they were backed by the primal Humans that bolstered the forces of the Gods considerably, even if the humans themselves could not use magic.[break][break]
In such days, there were other creatures such as Dragons, who instead lived alone, in the solitude of the wilderness, far from the prying eyes of humanity and the gods. The Dragons did not look for war but sought peace.[break][break]
One day, though, the tides of war were to change when a Human stumbled into the underworld of the Demons. The general consensus among the Demons was to rid their haven of the human infiltrator, but instead, their Lord decided to offer the Human a deal.[break][break]
A pact with the Devil.[break][break]
If he were to join them and fight for them, he'd so kindly grant him the power of Ethernano to finally use magic, a gift that had long been withheld from Humanity.[break][break]
Needless to say, the Human accepted, tired of playing slave to the divine beings.[break][break]
And so did his comrades, for all was happening according to the Lord's plan; the 'Chosen One' amongst the Human soon gathered his comrades, friends, and family to receive such power.[break][break]
The Humans rioted against the Gods they once worshipped. The divine beings, incensed by the betrayal, did not do anything to try and win the Humans back but instead cursed them for their treason.[break][break]
This was the world five hundred years ago.[break][break]
The Gods are gone. Some were killed, others went into hiding.[break][break]
The conflict lasted for many years. No longer could Gods defend themselves so easily, not even against Humans for even amongst the deities there were traitors that began teaching the magic of the Gods to Humans in an effort to win their security in the aftermath of the war.[break][break]
Likewise did the Demons that began to feel empathy with the Gods and aligned themselves with the Gods, fearing what might come about if the growing influence of Humans and upstart demons was not curbed. They taught those few Humans who remained by the righteous side of divinity the power to slay Demons.[break][break]
Each side fought on, for many years and oncoming. But the Gods had suffered too much damage for them to easily recover and turn the tides in their favor. Entire clans of people trained in the art of slaying Gods arose from the corners of the world, dedicated to the effort to eliminate the divine presence in Earth Land.[break][break]
Most of the remaining Gods, for the centuries to come, decided to disappear from sight before they could come to suffer the same fate as their fallen comrades. Demons and Humans rejoiced, but yet, the creatures of the underground would not find the supremacy they hoped to find when they first began the war.[break][break]
The numbers of the wicked creatures had scattered; no longer were they gathered under one force for them to face their feared opponent, for the deities were no more.[break][break]
Humans had evolved. They cultivated the magical knowledge and passed it on for many years to come, whilst they began to reject the Demons and push them out of their colonies and borders. Humans forged towns and entire cities and entire communities, parties and factions were born, all as the influence of demons and gods began to fade.[break][break]
Above them all, a court was established, known today as the Magic Council and, with them, their personal army, the Rune Knights. Amongst them were scholars of magic, soldiers, and trustworthy guards of the Human-stained world that was being formed. Their first act was to eradicate the existence itself of any clan once related to what was now considered illicit use of magic. Yet, the wizards still felt the need to remain united, and therefore came the existence of Magic Guilds, as approved by the Council. The very few that chose to continue with their illicit actions despite the demands of the Council carried on as 'Dark Guilds' and were considered to be criminals.[break][break]
The very few Demons and monsters that survived began to focus more on their survival, by seeking refuge and settling down in remote corners of the world, chased from the land by the very beings they had helped ascend to a place of dominance.[break][break]
Five hundred years have passed since the reign of Gods, and now the world was under the watchful eye of the Magic Council and the Humans. And yet, the presence of other creatures lingers on: monsters, demons, dragons, and many more, so faintly and yet, it is still there. And the forces of magic are ever stirring, shaping the world, in ways both overt and subtle, wielded by man and monster alike.[break][break]
What history is yet to be written?[break][break]
And how will you shape the world that's to come?
